Delaware is a state in the Mid-Atlantic region of the United States. It was one of the first 13 American states and is known as the "First State" because it was the first to ratify the US Constitution. It is bordered to the south and west by Maryland, to the north by Pennsylvania, and to the east by New Jersey and the Atlantic Ocean. Delaware occupies the northeastern part of the Delmarva Peninsula and several islands and territories in the Delaware River.
It is the second-most populous state and the sixth-least populous, but the sixth-most populous. Delaware's largest city is Wilmington. Delaware has a population of about 967,100 (2018), the second lowest in the country, but the population density is much higher than average (about 438.6 people per km2). Most of the population is concentrated in urban areas such as Dover, Wilmington, Newark, Georgetown, etc.As a small state with a small population, it is home to the 9th highest number of millionaires per capita in the country (6.9%). Most of a state's income comes from service industries like banking, finance, insurance, public services, and tourism.
